I know that was hard for me at first.
Prioritizing myself.

Giving myself permission to uncover places I felt stuck or was people pleasing or making myself small.

Figuring out what makes me come alive, and the actually choosing to do more of those things. 

It’s still work I’m doing.
It’s work that takes time. 

It takes time to recognize the stories we’ve been living out of that tell us who we thought we needed to be in order to be loved and accepted by others. 

It takes time to recognize when we’re operating out of places that don’t feel authentic and to begin to be curious about what does.

It takes time because often we’ve been operating out of those spaces for a long time, often without even realizing it. 

It takes time to begin to then briefly lean in to what feels more aligned with the person God has called us to be…

A life time even. 

It’s worth the work and the untangling.
It’s possible to be more authentically yourself. 
It takes courage and showing up.
It takes you.

🪓 This is the work that I’m deeply passionate about working with my clients on so they can experience more freedom.

Did you uncover a fear?
A lie you’ve believed?
A story you’ve been stuck in?

When we can begin to get curious about what’s going on more deeply, we can begin to have change that lasts.

Tools and tips are SO helpful.

But when we have all the tools and not a deeper understanding of why we’re really stuck and what’s going on below the surface they only last so long.

Tools + a deeper awareness of yourself = the beginning of long lasting change.

Happy Father’s Day to our favorite guy. He keep Happy Father’s Day to our favorite guy.

He keeps us grounded, is definitely the adventurous one always up for making memories and trying new things, he makes us laugh, is patient with the ever changing seasons of being a parent, listens well to my deep feelings & thoughts, works really hard for our family in so many ways, and loves us all really well. 

It’s also a gift we can give each other to remind each other what we’re thankful for in our relationships. I know that’s an area I can grow in for sure. Thankful for this one and for the gifts that the other dads in my life also are & have been, too. šŸ¤

Expressing your emotions and tuning into more logical ways of processing a situation might not be where you go to first when something happens. 

Your gut type sensitivity is a big part of what makes you, you. But it’s not the only part. You are more than just your intuition and I am passionate about helping you live more fully and authentically as your whole self.

2 ways to grow in your other muscles (your head (logic) & your heart (emotions):

TIP: Both of these require some stillness and time.

1: HEAD (logic)
Talk to someone you trust when something happens that gives you a strong reaction and see if they can help you run through the facts of the situation.

2: HEART (emotions)
Try and notice the emotional experience of someone around you. Try and label and notice the feeling you’d assign to that experience yourself. 

We are thankful your stable and grounding presence and your ability to trust yourself and your instincts so that we can do the same.

Navigating the stories you tell yourself and trusting your intuition and gut might be a challenge.

Your heart type sensitivity is a big part of what makes you, you. But it’s not the only part. You are more than just your emotions and I am passionate about helping you live more fully and authentically as your whole self.

2 ways to grow in your other muscles (your head (logic) & your gut (instincts):

TIP: Both of these require some stillness and time.

1: HEAD (logic)
When something happens, identify what the story is that you’re telling yourself by writing it out. Is it based on facts or feelings solely?

2: INSTINCTS (GUT)
Do a body scan. Notice where you feel tension. Settle in to your body. Ask yourself ā€œwhat is is that I’m sensing and know needs to be done? What action can I take based on trusting my intuition?ā€ 

We are thankful for how attuned you are to the needs and feelings of others and how relational you are.

Which sounds the most like you? We all have a ā€œ Which sounds the most like you?

We all have a ā€œpreferenceā€ in the way that we process the world.

This starts in one part of our body (head, heart, gut).

🧠 A head type person (logical, more process oriented)
Tends to process the world through their thoughts, can be more reserved, loves information and systems, are great problem solvers and objective thinkers, can struggle at times with over thinking and anxiety.

šŸ¤ A heart type person (emotions focused, feelings driven)
Tends to process the world through their feelings, is sensing of the emotional environment around them, loves to connect with others, can struggle at times with being saturated in feelings or also allowing the feelings of others to take up more space than their own and feelings of shame.

šŸ‘¤ A gut type person (intuition, body and action driven)
Tends to process the world through this instincts, is action driven and aware of their bodies as they move through the world, are strong and stable, can struggle at times with some reactivity and control and feelings of anger.

The primary way we process information can be a gift in so many ways because each way of processing allows us to access parts of God-given selves to make sense of what’s happening around us. 

This can also be a challenge because we tend to rely on 1 way of processing which causes us to live our lives operating mostly just out of logical places, emotional places, or instinctual places, causing us to be a little more out of balance.

We have been designed to use all 3 parts of ourselves to work together.

Need a little reset in your life? If you’re any Need a little reset in your life?

If you’re anything like me, maybe caring for yourself has been a lifelong process. 

Learning to keep myself on my own calendar and even learning the things that I like that or life-giving to me has been some thing I’ve had to learn and relearn. 

These are also the things I am passionate about sharing with you here in this space because they are simple but have profoundly helped me and my day today.

Making changes and learning to show up more for self doesn’t have to be complicated. 

Change can happen with ONE SIMPLE CHOICE.

ā˜€ļø These are currently 6 of my favorite ways to show up for myself, and I know can bless your life too.

#1: Solo walks outside:
Giving yourself the gift of time to just be with just you. To just be. See what you find. So much of change starts with having time alone.

#2: Daily supplements:
Our bodies are complex and finding good supplements can be so supportive to ourselves mentally, emotionally and physically (Amare has some of my favorites)

#3: Connect with your partner (or friend):
Having uninterrupted, intentional time with people we love can be so life giving and supportive.

#4: Read a book that helps you understand yourself:
Taking the time to understand more of what makes us, us, helps us be more present and intentional in life and improves our relationships with ourselves and others.

#5: Work with a therapist or coach:
Having another human being hold space for you as you reflect and work through places you might be struggling can be such a gift.

#6: Move your body:
Finding a way to move that we enjoy helps us in so many ways. Endorphins, overall health, disciplined habits, helps our brains function better.

Come to the office with me! I’d been praying fo Come to the office with me!

I’d been praying for a space to go back to in person therapy & also see my Enneagram coaching clients.

Then I met Jonna & she had this amazing sweet little house she converted into some offices & it felt like such perfect timing and such a great space for my clients to come and work through their human stuff we all have.

There’s something about taking time for yourself to go meet with somebody who can hold space for you and also feeling at home and comfortable when you’re there. That mattered a lot to me when trying to find a new space.

ā€œThat’s more than I’ve thought about in a wh ā€œThat’s more than I’ve thought about in a whole month.ā€

This was my husband’s response after I shared all my deep thoughts, feelings and ideas one night when we were talking after the kids went to bed.

For him, as a logical, process oriented, solution focused head type, my heart type way of expressing emotion can feel challenging.

I also used to take it personally. Telling myself stories that he didn’t care or wasn’t interested. When in reality, he was just trying to connect with me but found it difficult to follow because his emotional bandwidth is much smaller than mine.

I can’t tell you how many times my husband and I have had to re learn how to communicate with each other about what we need and what the other person needs.

The Enneagram has been such a gift to us to help us first understand that being a head type and myself as a heart type might be why it’s harder to have emotional conversations and for me when he jumps to problem solving.

It’s also helped us see where we can learn from the other to grow in those parts of ourselves we aren’t as used to.

It’s why I’m so passionate about helping people just like you understand your own patterns, needs, communication styles as well as your partners so you can connect more deeply.

I can’t tell you how many years of my life I hav I can’t tell you how many years of my life I have spent arguing with my spouse about things that I now see are just different values that we have.

Have you ever been there? Do you want to do some thing that makes sense to you but your spouse doesn’t understand it and so then it creates a conflict. 

Maybe the conflict in itself isn’t really the issue, but how we learn how to navigate it. If you’re anything like me that used to create shutting down or defensive behavior. 

When I learned that the two of us might be seeing things from different lenses and have different needs and values through the lens of the Enneagram, it changed everything for me. 

We went from conversations going nowhere, to using those opportunities to connect & try to understand each other, & validate what the other person was needing. 

We used to this tool as a way to have better conversations together, and to see the things that the other person offers that we might need to grow in and vice versa. 

It’s now what I feel deeply passionate and helping other people do as well. I believe there’s so much power in doing the work to understand the unique way that God has wired you to be and also doing the same with your partner.

Our minds are powerful. Are you someone who is l Our minds are powerful. 

Are you someone who is logical, a steady presence, prefers competence and what is safe and predictable at times? 

For some of us, and maybe this is you today, our head logic and ability to process factually can be the part we are the most disconnected from or don’t understand. 

For Types 5, 6 & 7 on the Enneagram, their head logic is their primary source of direction & what comes naturally to them to process the world through. They use their minds before their instincts or their feelings 

This doesn’t mean they can’t be attuned to their bodies and their intuition, or that they don’t have feelings, it just means they prefer to take in the world first with their minds, and can at times get disconnected from those other parts of themselves. 

Head types are driven by analysis and facts. They are often attempting to gain security through planning & being prepared. This often looks like thinking ahead. 

šŸŽ This can be such a GIFT because of their steadiness, their intelligent insight, and their ability to think through steps and see issues many of us might miss.

ā€¼ļø Head types can get OUT of balance with the other parts of themselves when they start to experience intense anxiety and become more shut down by fear of all kinds, and get disconnected from using their heart feelings and gut instincts. 

šŸ™ŒšŸ½ The GOOD NEWS is you can regain balance when you learn to use all 3 parts of yourself in harmony. 

This is often how I help my clients become more balanced and connected to themselves. By learning where they lean more dominantly, and regain balance by learning skills to use the other parts of themselves.

Are you someone who is sensitive to the moods and feelings of others and your environment? 

For others, and maybe this is you today, our feelings and emotions can be the part we are the most disconnected from or don’t understand. 

For Types 2, 3, & 4 on the Enneagram, their emotions are their primary source of direction & what comes naturally to them to process the world through. They use their feelings before their instincts or their logic.

This doesn’t mean they can’t be attuned to their bodies and their intuition, or that they aren’t able to be logical, it just means they prefer to take in the world first with their feelings and can at times get disconnected from those other parts of themselves. 

Heart types are driven by relationships and what’s going on outside of them. They desire to be noticed and loved, and adapt to the feelings of others. 

šŸŽ This can be such a GIFT because of their empathy and caring ability to tune in to their feelings and surrounding relationships and their ability to hold emotional space and serve others. 

ā€¼ļø Heart types can get OUT of balance with the other parts of themselves when they start to experience intense shame and become more shut down and get disconnected from using their head logic and gut instincts 

šŸ™ŒšŸ½ The GOOD NEWS is you can regain balance when you learn to use all 3 parts of yourself in harmony. 

This is often how I help my clients become more balanced and connected to themselves. By learning where they lean more dominantly, and regain balance by learning skills to use the other parts of themselves.

Our bodies are so smart. For some, it is the gift Our bodies are so smart.

For some, it is the gift they have to take in and process the world through. Is that true for you?

For others, and maybe this is you today, our bodies can be the part we are the most disconnected from. 

For Types 8, 9, & 1 on the Enneagram, their gut is their source of direction & what comes naturally to them to process the world. They use their instincts before their emotions or their logic.

This doesn’t mean they don’t have feelings or that they aren’t able to be logical, it just means they prefer to take in the world first with their instincts and can at times get disconnected from those other parts of themselves. 

Gut types are driven by a need for independence, have strong visceral reactions, and often react quickly because of what their bodies are telling them.

šŸŽ This can be such a GIFT because of their senses about what’s going on around them, their ability to tune in to their bodies and surroundings, and their ability to take action.

ā€¼ļø Gut types can get OUT of balance with the other parts of themselves when they start to experience intense anger and become more reactive and get disconnected from using their head logic and heart emotions. 

šŸ™ŒšŸ½ The GOOD NEWS is you can regain balance when you learn to use all 3 parts of yourself in harmony.

I’ve always processed the world and things that I’ve always processed the world and things that happen in my life most naturally through my heart or my feelings. It’s always what has come the most easily to me.

Maybe you can relate?

Or maybe processing the world with your emotions feels foreign to you because you take in the world in a more logical way, or through your intuition.

We all have a primary way we take in information or our God given ā€œcenter of intelligenceā€.

Our HEAD: thinking, logical, analytical, problem solving focused 

Our HEART: feeling, empathetic, noticing feelings of others, emotion focused 

Our GUT: sensing, intuitive, body connection, action focused 

Have you ever thought about yours?

It’s important to identify because most of us are subconsciously operating out of one of those places, causing us to feel out of balance.

God has created us to use all 3 in harmony with one another, but it’s a skill we have to learn as we often lean on one more heavily than the other.

The first step is identifying your stronger muscle!

Sometimes it can feel like we don’t always have the time available to connect like we’d want to on a date or can easily feel like our time is pulled in other directions with kids, work, etc & it’s hard to prioritize our spouse.

Over time, that can create disconnection, loneliness, frustration, and lack of intimacy in general.

This is a way to move toward your spouse even if you only have a small amount of time! šŸ‘‡šŸ¼
